Wanderlust: California (San Francisco and Napa Valley)

Ah, California! A whirlwind of a magical trip where my friends and I squeezed all the things into one week. All while driving around singing along to our California playlist on repeat. Best playlist ever.

"We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for number one
California here we come
Right back where we started from"

Kelly, Sarah, and I all went to BU together and Sarah had been in California for many years, but I had yet to make it out to the west coast. I arrived a few days before Kelly, so I spent the first few days exploring San Francisco and Berkeley, Sarah's neighborhood. We went to the pier (sadly, not prime sea lion season), shopped and wandered around Haight-Ashbury, stalked the Mrs. Doubtfire house (because Robin Williams will always be my favorite actor), gawked at the Painted Ladies, drove Lombard Street, and hiked along the ocean with views of the Golden Gate Bridge at Land's End. There used to be a cliffside hotel which was destroyed in a storm, and you can climb all over the ruins of the Sutro Baths. The views are perfect in every direction.

After my tourist days, Kelly joined us and we headed up to Lake Tahoe for a few days to visit with Abbie, another BU alum. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and the drive up is surrounded by trees and more perfect views in every direction. On the way home we stopped in Sonoma/Napa and hit up a few vineyards, most importantly: Mumm. I tried all the champagnes which were all ah-ma-zing and I wanted to live there forever. Wine country is so relaxing and everything is so lush and beautiful and delicious. Enjoy some of my favorites from the first half of our trip, and be on the lookout for part 2 soon!
