At the end of March I had the opportunity to attend The Flourish Workshop at Warehouse XI hosted by four amazing Boston lady bosses: Emily Tebbetts Photography, Shannon Grant Photography, Kelly Golia Events, and Gabi Valladares. Over the past few months I have been really pushing myself outside of my comfort zone to connect with local creatives, and it's been both scary and amazing! So having the opportunity to not only connect with other female photographers but also learn from those ladies above, who are killing it in their fields, was such an honor. A special Sunday treat. And it was my first workshop so of course now I'm hooked!
The day began with donuts and grapefruit mimosas, which you know in my book sets you up for instant success. I don't even remember the rest of the day! No, I'm kidding, I am a professional. But it did set the mood for a perfect, relaxed day. We spent the better part of the day learning on a variety of business topics including social media, creating content, collaboration, and of course, finances. It can be so hard and isolating as a small business owner so sharing my challenges and hearing the challenges of others really helped make me feel like I wasn't alone. Although I took away a wealth of ideas that I'll slowly be integrating throughout the year, I really think the biggest and best takeaway was forming connections and finding out that there is a huge community of supportive, like minded ladies out there! And what could be better than that?
Towards the end of the day we had the opportunity to photograph a gorgeous styled shoot. Anyone who lives in New England knows just how cold, dark, and depressing March can be, which is why the tropical vibes that Kelly, Gabi, Shannon, and Emily chose were the perfect late winter pick me up! (Especially given the snowstorm that followed, but let's go back to pretending that never happened! Okay great.) I'm a sucker for anything green (duh!) and I loved how they incorporated small, simple details that gave the perfect nod to a little island affair. I can just see this tablescape as the perfect inspiration for a destination wedding in the Caribbean! (Bring me! Bring me!) Throw in our stunning model Katie and a gorgeous dress from Flair Boston and you have the recipe for major success and some serious heart eyes. As a photographer, we're used to being the only one photographing an event so it's been super fun to see everyone else's images, perspectives, and styles over these last few weeks! I left rejuvenated, inspired, and excited to take on the 2017 wedding season with passion! Thank you so much and big hugs to all the ladies involved! I simply can't wait to photograph all of my amazing couples this year and be witness to the beginning of their marriages.
So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite images from the day! I'd love to know which ones your favorites are!
