Sarah + OJ // Downtown Newport Engagement Session // Newport Engagement Photographer

I first met Sarah and OJ through my best friend from middle school, Liz, a few years ago. So when I found out they were engaged I was super excited for them; and then when they contacted me about photographing their wedding I was even more excited! I'm the luckiest. Anyone who knows these two people, either as individuals or as a couple, knows that they are amazing. And I'm not just saying that. Not only are they total couple goals, but they are also brilliant, caring people committed to urban education. One of the best things about finding your true partner is that you become stronger as a team and I think Sarah and OJ illustrate that perfectly. Their differences compliment each other. Plus, Sarah has really found a keeper because OJ was psyched for pictures and came prepared to own it.

We started the session at Newport Harbor Lighthouse. It was a particularly brisk, cold afternoon in Newport Harbor and the overcast weather wasn't doing us any favors. The wind was so crazy at this spot our eyes couldn't stop crying. But they were total sports and you wouldn't know it was like the arctic to look at them. From there we headed to the wharfs and Queen Anne Square where we laughed a lot. The sun was setting fast at this point and it broke through the clouds with the most gorgeous fall light. The entire sky was starting to light up and turn pink so we hustled back down to the docks (engagement sessions are serious exercise!) to catch the last of the light. It. Did. NOT. Disappoint. The MOST epic sunset, with the deep pink sky reflecting off the water! One warning though: A canon does fire at sunset. And it will scare all the birds. Annnnd also you if you're not prepared. So glad I caught that moment and all the others - I can't wait for July!
