Mary + Ryan // Downtown Portland Engagement Session // Maine Engagement Photographer

This engagement session was extra, extra, extra special. Mary and Ryan are two of my bestest friends in the whole wide world and one of my most favorite couples! They are the best. They are silly and mushy and feisty and crazy and loving and just an all around good time. Oh and did I mention they are ridiculously good looking too?!

I’ll be standing up there with them on the big day (if they ever set a date ha!) so I can’t photograph the wedding, which is why I was super excited and honored when they asked me to take their engagement photos. Mary and I are from Portland, Maine and I’d read and heard about this graffiti mural done a couple years back. We knew we needed pictures there. They’ll be getting married in Maine somewhere on the ocean so we opted for more of an urban feel. After the mural, we wandered around the Old Port before sneaking down to the docks. A special thanks to Mary’s sister Lily for tagging along and serving as my assistant and the official hair fluffer!

Now, for those of you who know us well, you will understand our extreme excitement when we happened upon a pile of lobster traps. As we were taking a couple shots, we heard someone yell to come on down on the boat. A real live lobster boat. After the woman assured us that she knew the owner and he’d be happy with it, we climbed down to the dock and jumped on! It was magical. These kinds of things are the reason I love Maine so. darn. much. We finished the evening with a little ice cream: a sweet ending to a more than sweet couple. Counting the days until the wedding! Congratulations Mary and Ryan, I couldn’t be happier for you both. xoxo

Awesome photos! And awesome to hear that this time they're tying the knot for real! 🙂 Perfect locations and photo ops for this pair and the friendship 🙂

Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures, and for being such a wonderful friend to us both. We don't have enough money to pay you for these, but we will pay you with love (and manual labor when you move into your new home). Thank you thank you thank you,

Love, Papa Bear!

Seriously? SO cute 🙂

Awwww! Love you so much, and love these photos so much! So gorgeous, and thank you so much for being such a wonderful part of our lives.
